CLLR E.Paya

His Worship, Councillor Masilo Edward Paya began his political journey as a member of Sadtu, which he joined as an Educator. He taught in various schools around Molemole Local Municipality; among them Rampo and VP Manthata High School. He joined Mohodi Youth Congress during the 80s and later joined the African National Congress when it was unbanned in the early 90s. As a dedicated member of the movement he served as the Deputy Secretary of the local sub region. He later served as the sub Regional Convenor after the sub-region was disbanded and ultimately was appointed the Chairperson, which he served for two terms because of his commitment to serve the movement with pride and selflessness. He is presently serving as a member of the sub region providing the much needed guidelines to the new leadership.

His first stint with Molemole local Municipality started during the 2006-2011 Council term, serving as a Ward committee member for Ward 10. He was elected as Party Representative (PR) in the 2011-2016 Council and served as the Chairperson of Finance Committee. It was during this term that the Municipality was able to move from a disclaimer to a qualified audit opinion in the 2013/14 financial year and unqualified audit opinion in the 2014/15 financial year.

In the current term of council the Mayor is looking forward to achieving a clean audit, as well as ensuring an accelerated delivery of the much deserved services to the residents of Molemole Municipality and promotion of local economic development.

Councillor Tshepang Rathete will serve as chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee.
